After accessing Flickr, I can see the broad repertoire of images available for download, many of them useful for to enhance learning experiences within the classroom. I chose to upload a photograph of the Sacred Kingfisher (right) because I could see the uses that this could have within the classroom. Giving students a visual stimulus, this image could provide the basis of a report where students identify the key aspects of the Kingfisher, describe its attributes and promote further research to discover the climate it lives in and the food sources that it needs.

I like your choice of image here Jasmine, and I can definately see the practical implications of an image like this in the classroom. I really like the idea of using it as a stimulus to writing a report. I feel that would be an engaging way to get students hooked into learning.
ReplyDeleteUsing your reference to Flickr, I went online and found a large resource bank of photos with a creative commons licence, allowing us to use these images for our classroom use. This is a great resource for us as learning managers. I was just wondering, do you, or anyone else, know of any other great sites that offer free images this educational use?
I am unaware of any other sites offering free images for educational use Emma. I love the way that images can help to bring engagement in a lesson. Images could also be great for analysis as they could be compared with each other, with similarities and differences being highlighted. I also think that an image could provide stimulus for creative writing in giving students a visual starting point. Can you think of any other innovative uses that images could have within the classroom?
